Stanislavski on Stage is an exhibition of photographic material drawn from the archive of The Stanislavski Centre at Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance. The object of the exhibition is to provide a visual representation of some of Stanislavskis work at the Moscow Art Theatre as actor, director and producer, enabling us to observe not only the physicality of the actors in character, but also the scenographic environment in which those characters were presented.
The exhibition was originally staged in the Spring of 2008 at Londons national Theatre, and is being re-mounted to mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of Konstantin Stanislavski (17th January, 1863).
The exhibition has been re-assembled by Paul Fryer from the original curation of the late Robert McIndoe, and is designed by Nigel Hook.
The exhibition is dedicated to the memory of the late Professor Jean Benedetti, formerly Principal of Rose Bruford College, founding Honorary Patron of The Stanislavski Centre, and distinguished Stanislavski scholar, who died in 2012.
