Prize-winning Russian virtuoso pianist Konstantin Lapshin performs all-Rachmaninov programme as part of composer’s 140 years anniversary. This is a unique opportunity to hear some of the very well-known Rachmaninov’s masterpieces, including his famous Prelude in C-sharp minor, along with the composer’s rarities and almost unknown works, such as his prelude in D minor(posthumous) and Fugue in D minor.

Called by Murrey Perahia ‘a very special talent,’ London-based Russian pianist Konstantin Lapshin, a prize-winner of Rachmaninov International Piano Competition in Moscow, bring to the Pushkin House Rachmaninov’s most loved piano works anolgside some of the very rarely performed pieces, as part of his Doctoral project at the Royal College of Music ‘Rachmaninov rediscovered’.
Konstantin Lapshin was born in Moscow, studied at the Moscow Conservatory, and has recently completed his studies on a scholarship at the London Royal College of Music. He won the most coveted Chappell Gold Medal and the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Rose Bowl- the highest RCM award, which includes an opportunity to play for Prince Charles.

Konstantin has also received more than 20 awards at many
international and national competitions in Russia, UK, Germany, Italy and Serbia, including prestigious Rachmaninov International
Competition in Moscow and Schubert International Competition in
Germany. Most recently he won 2nd Prize in the Isidor Bajic International Piano Competition (Serbia), 1St Prize in the
Mendelssohn Cup Competition in Taurisano (Italy) and 1st Prize
and Public Prize in the Schumann International Competition in
Lamporrecchio (Italy).

He made his debut CD in 2009, which received considerable critical acclaim in ‘Fanfare’ magazine (USA). Konstantin has given recitals and concerto appearances at various concert halls throughout the UK and across the Europe including Wigmore Hall in London, Purcell Room at the South Bank Centre, Cadogan Hall, Steinway Hall, Pushkin House, Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, Salle Cortot in Paris, Great and Small Halls of Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatoire to mention just a few.

Performances of Konstantin were broadcast on the ‘Orpheus’
Radio (Moscow) as well as National Radio in Serbia and Poland.
He is supported by the Worshipful Company of Musicians and is a
Concordia and Kirckman Society artist.

Konstantin teaches at the Royal College of Music and will serve as a Jury member of Schumann Piano competition in Italy.
